Sweet Brooke

Alright, well my lil sis Brooke is…pretty much an angel child. All the adults(teachers, bishops etc) are always talking about how sweet and wonderful she is. And she really is. She’s beautiful, fun, talented, gracious, kind, caring, helpful and so much more.

So this year Brooke is in 8th grade at AFJH and you know what that means…….she, along with every other 8th grader, wanted Mr. Dibb for their science teacher.

Brooke called me up the day she got her class schedule to tell me she got Mr. Dibb and that when she found out “she did the running man for 5 minutes because she was SO excited.” :)

Well after Brooke told me about this I told Mr. Dibb, my brother-in-law and my former 8th and 9th grade science teacher, that Brooke was going to be in his class and he will like it because she is such a good girl. He said, “OK we’ll see about that.”

Well the other day Mr. Dibb comes up to me and says, “So Britt your sister really is like the perfect student. She comes to class on time, she’s quiet and respectful, she’s helpful to others, she always does her work and I think she thanks me just about every day. And she doesn’t talk and interrupt class at all.“ I said, “I know I told you so.” To which he quickly replied “Yeah, she’s definitely not your sister.” HAHA!

funny sight at 7:30 a.m.

This morning while driving on UVU campus, I saw a chubby 65 year old man driving one of these.......
and it was a VERY funny!!
It only would have been better if there was a chubby 65 year old lady in the side car.

Maroon 5

So one of my professors this semester is the father of James Valentine, the lead guitarist and back up singer for Maroon 5!!

If you don't know who James is, he is the gentlemen in this pic with the flowing hair and the green velvet jacket. (You must be cool if you can pull off GREEN VELVET huh)

He is an amazing guitarist and apparently everyone in the music biz wants him to collaborate with them. But since I have the inside scoop into Maroon 5, I thought I'd share some of the random/interesting things I've learned thus far.
  1. The band has been touring in Switzerland all summer and apparently none of them want to come back to America. They love it there.
  2. Adam Levine (lead singer) and James have Harleys that they take with them everywhere they go. They ride around the city/country all day to prepare for their concert. James wears a helmet but they can't convince Adam to wear one.
  3. Before the band met James, they were called Cara's Flower---eh?!
  4. Only Billy Joel and the members of Maroon 5 know the meaning of the name "Maroon". They won't tell anyone else.
  5. When Maroon 5 won the grammy for Best New Artist Kanye West (Booo!) freaked out and threw a major fit in his seat because he didn't win.
  6. James loves to ski and he comes to Park City a few times every winter to do so. The band's insurance provider requires that he wear rods and duct tape the rods to his forearms in order to ski. That way he won't hurt his wrists.
  7. My professor went to Maroon 5's most recent concert in Vegas and afterwards went up to James' suite at the Palms Hotel. On the way up to the suite, in the elevators and hotel lobby my professor described: "There were older ladies everywhere wearing gold jewelry and flashy outfits with boob jobs. When James got to the room I said what is with that?" James replied: "Oh Dad, those are just the cougars!" haha people are weird
  8. Lastly, the band is going on a college tour back East this fall and to test out some new songs and then.......they are coming out with a new album in Februaryish!
Sorry if you don't find this interesting, but it sure makes Monday and Wednesday nights a little better for me.

How We Spent Labor Day

Andrew spent the day doing this......

I spent the day doing this............
Yep, that's me sitting at the computer all day doing homework. Ah the joys of school!!! I figured since I was stuck doing homework all day I might as well work on my complexion while I did homework.

And after a little bit, I was not smiling anymore--possibly because of the endless hours of homework--or because the mask dried. I was seriously trying my hardest to smile in this pic and this is the best I could get. Haha
